Project 3 & 4 of 7: Laundry Pedestal & Cart
I'm not entirely sure where this idea originated... probably just a random Pinterest scan, or just poking around on ana-white.com. Either way, I decided that a laundry pedestal for my washer & dryer would be extremely helpful in my new laundry room. Sorry I don't have any before pictures. I kept forgetting to take them, and assumed I would do it just before I had Dave actually move everything... but then he called his brother over one night while I was gone and surprised me by putting everything together without me.
Here's a couple of the sites that inspired this pedestal:

We already had a shelf installed above, and the raised washer/dryer still fit perfectly under it.
I made the pedestal tall enough for three laundry baskets to fit underneath.
The laundry cart was another Pinterest inspiration. Mostly from this post: http://www.iloverehabs.com/2011/09/07/diy-laundry-cart/
I obviously modified a few things and added a few touches. :)
The only downside is that I made the cart to slide in and out, but my measurements didn't take into account the baseboard trim. The cart is just slightly too wide. It fits and it moves.. but it definitely doesn't slide in and out easily. It can get jammed pretty fast. I think I might need to trim the lower pieces closest to the wall to leave more room for the baseboard trim. But it will probably be a while before that happens too... since there are other more urgent needs. For now, the cart just sits out most of the time.
I have loaded it up with a lot of other items since the last picture was taken, and I have some great plastic bins for the everyday detergents.
