Another Year, Another Resolution

This past year has been quite eventful. I spent the last few hours of last year giving birth to our eighth baby. (Just realized I never posted his birth story.) Ten short days later we took baby Matthew to the hospital with RSV and a partially collapsed lung. He spent two days at McKay Dee hospital, then three days in PICU at Primary Children's, and then another two days "on the floor" at Primary Children's.

That experience pretty much set the tone for our year.

In May we ended up in the emergency room again, this time for a horseback riding injury from D.

She spent 24 hours in the hospitals (she was also transferred to Primary Children's via ambulance), with a concussion and a mild lung collapse (sound familiar).

In June we rehomed our puppy, Shasta. We finally determined we did not have the time or energy she deserved and our kids preferred playing with each other over playing with her. She went to a good home with an only child where she will get LOTS of attention.

Matthew has been extremely active and a major overachiever since the day he was released from the hospital. He crawled before 6 months, stood at 6 months, and walked at 8 1/2 months. And he finally figured out stairs just after 11 months.

Things quieted down a bit after that, though there are dozens of wonderful stories to tell and pictures to share. But that will need to wait for another day.

My main purpose for writing this post is to put in writing one of my New Year's Resolutions for 2016. I want to write a journal-type blog post every week for 2016, including pictures and stories. I am hopeful that this will help me feel more organized with photos & such.

Hopefully I'll have time to write such things... especially since I keep hacking away at my project list. Just today I finally finished Marie's quilt. It actually didn't take me as long as the other quilts, probably because I was only doing one this time. But it still took me an entire year to get to it, and now I get to start on quilts for Ben and Matthew. Yay!
